HI All,

SO what do you all make of the Vesper! The Vesper was created by James Bond author Ian Fleming and his friend Ivar Bryce. Fleming later popularised the drink when he gave it its public debut in his 1953 novel, Casino Royale. In the book, Bond himself invents it in a bar, subsequently naming it to commemorate his strong feelings for Vesper Lynd - Bond's first romantic interest in the original novels.

This is currently being featured as our cocktail of the week at Beefeater (http://www.beefeatergin.com)

Instructional video (http://www.beefeatergin.com/mixology/video.php?video=Vesper) on how to make this cocktail

Recipe:

3 PARTS Beefeater London Dry Gin

1 PART Stolichnaya Vodka

1/2 PART Lillet Blanc

DASH Angostura bitters (to add a touch of the quinquina that was in the original Kina Lillet formula)

SHAKE All ingredients over ice

STRAIN Into a chilled champagne goblet

GARNISH With a large slice of lemon peel

With the "Bond Girls" thread in the Non-Zebra Forum going strong, I thought I would ask about the James Bond character. Who played him the best?

Vote on the best Bond, then put in text the order of which ones you liked the best.

I did not include Barry Nelson Casino Royale TV or David Niven Casino Royale because they were not official James Bond movies.

The Vesper is a very tasty martini indeed!

The new Bond, Daniel Craig, is an excellent Bond... too bad that the Quantum wasn't a very good movie.

Sean Connery... these were what Bond was about. Started getting a bit too kitschy, but Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Thunderball, Goldfinger are classic Bond.

Roger Moore... most of the movies were just terrible. Roger was actually a pretty solid actor. Check out The Saint, The Sea Wolves, Wild Geese.

Timothy Dalton... Not only God Awful movies but a God Awful actor.

Pierce Bronson... A really good Bond saddled with mediocre movies. Tomorrow Never Dies was a pretty good flick.

Is it ok to make this w/ Bombay Original and Finlandia or would that make Ian Fleming roll over in his grave?

George Lazenby in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" was the best Bond.

A classic cocktail. I created a version of it I call...La Dolce Vita...The Sweet Life. Equal parts Grey Goose, Bombay Sapphire, and Dolce Late Harvest...garnished with a fresh lemon twist.
