Hi all,
I have been drinking Tangueray gin and tonics every evening before dinner for literally years! Finally, I am tiring of the same drink, although I do still love a good G&T.
Can anyone suggest a daily alternative that is quick to make with few ingredients, is refreshing, and not terribly fattening? I use diet tonic for my G&T... not as good as the fully leaded tonic, but I need to cut calories where I can.
My husband drinks very dry Tangueray martinis, but I don't enjoy alcohol in that concentration.
Looking forward to your suggestions... thanks in advance!

Recently I've been getting more and more requests for Drambuie and soda. Some may frown on this on a watering down a good product, and I'll admit I was skeptical at first as well, but it really is quite refreshing and the lime and they honey-ish flavors of the Drambuie really work nicely together. No calories or crud in soda water, sounds like this may fit your needs.

Fuzzy Navel, Cranberry Toad (lighten the Vodka if you want), etc.
Cranberry with citrus juice and a Vodka or Peachtree or Rum or Tequila usually are fairly light. The amount of alcohol is up to you. We enjoyed some of these one night last week before dinner:

Screwdrivers - OJ and vodka; Bay Breeze - vodka, cranberry and pineapple juice, good stuff; Armaretto Sour - armaretto and sweet n sour mix; Cosmopolitan - Vodka, Triple Sec (or any orange flavored liqueur), lime juice, and cranberry juice
These are pretty common, easy to make, and very good!

We enjoy bourbon sours - just mix some legal Kentucky hooch with sweet 'n' sour mix - we like about a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio of mix to bourbon. Nice thing is you can play around with ratios until you find the one(s) you like.
The best way to go low-cal with sours is to use the Baja Bob sour mixer made with Splenda. Great tasting mix - zero calories.

If you enjoy G&T, remember that almost anything can be mixed with soda, as well, and won't do incredible damage to the waistline. I know that a lot of liqueurs that seem just too sweet most of the time are pretty good with soda. I get some strange looks for ordering amaretto and soda, but you get to enjoy that nice almond flavor without feeling like you're drinking cough syrup LOL. Flavored vodkas mix will with soda, too.
