Hi missie,
Parts can be anything you want them to be; ounces, ml, cl, liters etc

If you imagine replacing all the times it says "parts" with one of those, then for example;

1 part vodka
2 part tequila
1 part rum

will become;

2 oz vodka
4 oz tequila
2 oz rum.

As long as you keep the "part" consistant through the recipe it will be good, for example that time I used "2oz" as the part.

Hope this helps!

it's like a portion of the drink, part = part of, 1 part of a drink with 5 parts = 1 slice of a cake with 5 slices!!! liek ok?

yep, they are pretty much right on the button. You simply think of a 'part' as a fraction of the whole drink. If it calls for 1 part vodka, 1 part juice, and 1 part rum, what it directly means in this example is it's 1/3 vodka, 1/3 juice and 1/3 rum. you'd simply put an equal amount of each..the amount you choose is your choice. It could even by by eye, with no exact measurement.

If it is 1 part rum, 2 part vodka, and 1 part juice you would then put the same amount of the juice and rum..once again choosing your own measurement as long as it's equal. Then simply add twice as much vodka as you did the juice and rum!
