The best way to store all kind of Liquers and Bitters are somewhere on cold and dark place...
but it doesen't mean that you will store it in the refrigerator nevertheless somewhere outside albeit long time ago ours forefathers are stored the Brandys,Rums and others Liquers buried underground over years and sometimes over decades... ;)

...you are right,Campari is very hard to preserve in good condition on longer time and the 1st indication is when sugar start to crystalize on the top of the bottle, under the cork...
Nowadays you dont have to buy 1 lit.bottle, you can take te half liter bottle and in that case probably you won't have that kind of problems... :D

Campari lasts forever! I've traveled with a bottle to the hot dry deserts and back, and a couple years later never noticed any change in the quality. It's flavor is not subtle, nor is it's color. Sugar crystals are not a problem either. Don't worry about this one. Just keep it out of sunlight and don't bother to refrigerate it unless you want to make a special drink where less ice melt is important.
