hello everyone, i am new first off...and i have a lot of questions...first, my main point.

i am currently only 19. I live in California, so i cant legally serve alcohol until i turn 21, but i wanna learn as much as i can before then so that i can hopefully have some kinda knowledge when am able to start looking for something in this field. anyone have any advice on what to do? i was thinking about getting a job in a resturant with a bar, and just try and learn as much as i can until i turn 21, then ask for a job behind the bar. i believe there is a turm used...a bar back?

i dont know anything yet fellas, so, bare with me please. but i am willing to do whatever to learn. any advice you are willing to part with would be GREATLY appreciated.

thank you.

I will advice you to learn it at home as u do not wish to go out of the law rulez... but i mean working in a bar is still not harm. You can ask the bartender with regard abt how they make this and that this is how i pick up my skill when i was younger. Haha... If you parents are alright with you going into this i am galdly happy for you. Good luck for you bartender career!!!!!

Btw some tips for you before you get into this... read up books or internet info about bartending and also abt basic spirits that wat usually bar use. If i am not wrong ever you are a serve you need to know abit of cocktail profile in case your customer ask you when you are serving them.

umm, anyway, thanks. i am already getting the books together..and i just found out today at work that our new manager was a bartender for several years...funny how fate helps one out..hehe. she's gonna teach me how to do basic things hopefully.

hmmm..........if you have a wish to be a bartender it's not easy but it's very interesting but before that, you hav to learn a lot abouth all kind of beverage specialy Rum,Vodka,Gin,Tequila,Cachasa,Whiskey,Brandy...... ... etc.
It's not only make a coffe and serve a glass of water......it's more complicated!

good luck!

yes i agree with mixyflairstyle every though i go to F&B school to learn all this but nothing much was taught as compare if you go out to work. I love the feeling of doing bottle flairing for the 1st time, the feeling of doing my first matini. Scoalub keep you spirit there and keep moving be a good bartender k, 3 yrs down the road maybe i will visit you to try on ur skill.

According to me, you should contact a small bar which can let you work with them. If you could find a job their, you will be start working what you wants to do. In this way, you can chase your passion. After turning 21, you can apply for a professional bartender.
