I got a bottle of Laphroaig single malt for the holidays. Well, I can't get this stuff past my nose. To me it is taste terrible. I've had other whiskeys and scotchs, but this is REALLY different. Is the the way it always tastes. I am not sure if i can aquire the flavor. Let me know. I know it most likely cost a few bucks.

Laphroaig is considered one of the most strongly flavoured of all scotch whiskies, and is generally aged to 10 years, although the 15 year old variety is not uncommon (the 30 and 40 year olds, however, are). Some people find that a drop of water enhances the peaty aroma of this whisky.
Laphroaig is an acquired taste, even among whisky drinkers. Its strong peaty (or phenolic) overtones have been likened to "bottled smoke", seaweed or even TCP or Chloraseptic. However, those who like it are likely to consider it to be a favourite.

Thanks DM but I think the Laphroaig will be in the cabinet for a long time.

Tastes like a burnt out shrimp boat.

Now,you don't have to considered any more ;) :D because in 2005. on the Champions of Whisky Competition the Laphroaig was voted "the best of the best" - so now it's official! :)
