Oh, but you should... The difference between cheap vodka (5 O'clock or Popov) and expensive (say Belvedere) is HUGE! Expensive liquor in a drink like this makes a world of difference (and no matter what ANYONE says, you can taste the difference)

Agreed, ESPECIALLY vodka. There's nothing else in vodka to mask the use of inferior spirits, poor water, or lazy distilling. With other spirits, there can sometimes be marginal leeway between spirits because of the nature of the spirit, but vodka is one place never to draw short. Maybe not use some super-premium vodka, but well-vodka should never be your personal choice.

I learned fairly quick about shaking drinks with the half&half. Wow! can be a big mess!
